Initial Visit: March 23rd, 2014
Description: If you lived in Illinois as a kid, there is a good chance you’ve been here.
I am one of those kids who visited here when I was a wee little lad. Of course my memory of the place as a kid was a bit fuzzy, so my dad and I decided to make a trip up there to relive some memories. Deciding to just go all out, we paid for the $30+ tickets. They also have basic admission for $8.75 (prices may vary since my last visit).
We should’ve gone with the cheap tickets. Since it was just my dad and I, we didn’t really take advantage of the perks that came with the more expensive tickets. Plus, it was a field trip day, so the place was packed with kids. No offense to the kids, but it kind of ruined the experience.
Now it was cool to revisit this place and see the new stuff and recognize some older stuff. If you do live in Illinois and have kids (or just like aquariums/like to travel), you definitely need to check it out at least once in your life. They offer a large variety of aquatic life specimen to see. Plus, I think you can pay extra to play with the penguins (when available). It may have changed and it may be a different animal now… if they even offer it at all. Services tend to change, some come and some go, so check the website to see their latest offerings.
Would I go back? Probably.
