Initial Visit: October 28th, 2012
Rating: 5/5
Price: Free/$ (If you go up in the tower)

Description: It is literally an Observational Tower with a giant Woodpecker attached to the side.

Yesterday, I typed up a blog post for Tower Park. In Tower Park, you’ll find Woodpecker Tower. To go up in the tower, it’s $2 to ride the rickety old elevator. The elevator itself reminds me of the elevator from Willy Wonka. It’s got a glass back side so you can see the scenery as you ride up.

Once up top, you have access to 2 different floors. The bottom floor allows you to take in the scenery, but going to the top floor really opens up the sky to enjoy the scenery. There is a spiral staircase leading to the top floor. Also on top, there is a telescope (or two, I can’t remember) so you can peer far off in the distance.

Woodpecker Tower is a nice stop in Peoria Heights. The park it is located in is nice. The views from the top of the tower are nice and is only $2 to ride to the top. I plan on going back later this year with some family, so I will update this blog post with more photos and more specific details, since my memory is a bit foggy after 4+ years.
