Description: Cracked Pepper won’t crack the bank or your wallet.

It can be tough to try a new place to eat. Is it expensive? It is worth it? Will I get my money’s worth? It’s a tough mentality to crack but sometimes you just have to try new places out regardless of the unknown.

Cracked Pepper has some good word-of-mouth vibe among my friends. They all said it was really good for the price. It doesn’t take much more (or less) than that to get me to try a place out. That’s just what Matt, Ashton, and I did one afternoon where Ashton was free to leave work for a lunch hangout.

Admittedly, this old location wasn’t great for Cracked Pepper, in my opinion. It’s in a part of Peoria that is open but surrounded by rundown or closed buildings. Parking wasn’t ideal either as I remember there was very limited space outside. I think there was storefront parking but shared with the rest of the shops in the strip.

Either way, we headed in and took a seat at a table. We did the usual routine of placing our orders and making small talk while our food was cooking. I remember getting a turkey club sandwich for my meal of choice. It wasn’t long before our food came out and was placed in front of us.

The sandwich looked amazing. I can’t remember if it came with any sides but the turkey club looked like it might be enough to satisfy my hunger. The first bite had me hooked on how crispy and crunchy the bacon was. It was the work of a few minutes before the club sandwich was gone from existence and it left me wanting more. Not that I was hungry still, but it was just that good. The ingredients were fresh with no corners cut. I think my sandwich was around $10 and it was worth every penny in terms of quality and taste.

Since 2014, Cracked Pepper has grown to have two different locations other than this one as this one is currently no longer in operation. I have yet to try the new locations despite having driven by them a million times. Maybe I will check them out someday. 🙂
